Facebook Deleted 583 Million Fake Accounts in 2018 till the Date

FACEBOOK is in a state of constant deletion. The social network released its Community Standard Enforcement Report for the first time on Tuesday.The details include number of spam posts deleted and counts of Fake accounts taken down in the first quarter of 2018.

GUY ROSEN (Vice President at Facebook) said in Facebook blog post:

The social network disabled about 583 million face accounts.The majority of which Were blocked within few minutes of registration. Rosen even mentioned that Facebook blocks millions of fake account attempts every day for even attempting to register.

“We are up against sophisticated adversaries who continuously change tactics to circumvent our controls,which means we must continuously build and adapt our efforts.” This is the reason why we are on the path of investing heavily in more PEOPLE and better TECHNOLOGY.

Survey mentions the attempts of creating fake account every day is over 6.5 million from JANUARY 1st to MARCH 31st. If Facebook AI tools did not catch these fake accounts flooding the social network,its population would have raised immensely in just 89 days. Such a short span of time,right?

In APRIL,CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified before congress,promising greater transparency and responsibility from the social network.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE plays a key role as a TOOL to fight against fake accounts.But AI cannot be purely reliable.As discovered still 3 to 4 percent accounts on website are fake.Facebook AI also went after 827 million spam posts in the first quarter of 2018,nearly all the posts were deleted before anyone reported the post.

Facebook took down 21 million pieces of adult nudity and sexual activity.it took down or applied warning labels to about 3.5 million pieces of violent content,and eliminated 2.5 million pieces of hate speech.
