A new WhatsApp Payments feature goes live for Android beta version app, which will let users Request Money from their friends, contacts. Android beta 2.18.113 has the feature live. As per the latest news, the ‘Request Money’ option in Android beta, but not in regular Android versions of WhatsApp where the Payments feature was also active.
Now a days, most of users who managed to get an invite to try out the new money transfer feature are only able to send or receive money from users on their contacts list and from UPI addresses. As per the latest report, the new WhatsApp Payments feature only works for UPI IDs and by scanning a QR code.
How to use this feature?
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Payments
- Tap on New Payment
- Enter the UPI address or scan a QR code
- See ‘Request Money’ and ‘Pay Money’ buttons (For Verified Users Only)
- Tap on the ‘Request Money’ button
- Enter the amount you wish to request from that particular contact
According to Indian Express blog post, Once a request has been accepted, the money will be credited instantly to a user’s bank account. WhatsApp will then also show a list of payment requests in the Payment Settings, and the status of these requests. A particular request once sent will expire within a period of 24 hours.
Users will be able to find all pending requests and the status of those requests in the Payments menu that comes under Settings.
